Google is making a bold move with its new project, NotebookLM. Initially known as Project Tailwind. This handy tool is a virtual research assistant that can help you make sense of your notes.

It's not just a chatbot; NotebookLM is designed to understand and relate to your specific notes. By focusing on your documents in Google Drive, it attempts to provide insights based on your unique information.

You can use NotebookLM to summarize your notes, ask questions about your documents, and even brainstorm new ideas!

Why it matters? If Google is successful with NotebookLM, you could save a lot of time searching through a large number of docs!

ELON MUSK

Elon Musk, the head of Tesla, SpaceX, and Twitter, has introduced his new AI company called xAI. Its ambitious goal is to “understand the universe's true nature”. Musk and his team plan to share more details in a live chat on Twitter today (14th of July).

xAI's team is a mix of talented people from big tech companies, and they've worked on important projects like AlphaCode and GPT-4 chatbots. Musk's goal is to put xAI in competition with big AI companies like OpenAI and Google. Can he do that?

CLAUDE 2

Anthropic

AI startup Anthropic has launched Claude 2, an advanced AI chatbot with improved abilities in tasks like document search, summarizing, and coding.

Key Points:

  • Handles a context window of 100,000 tokens (75,000 words)

  • Upload and chat with your documents such as PDFs and Excel

  • Enhanced abilities to process and follow multi-step instructions

  • Only accessible in the US and the UK through web and API

Why it matters? This is a great advancement in the AI chatbot field, creating competition with OpenAI's ChatGPT, and pushing forward the development and capabilities of AI. Competition is always good for the system.

Shopify announces the upcoming launch of "Sidekick," an AI assistant embedded within its platform. Sidekick will provide merchants with real-time sales trend information and assist in updating their Shopify stores, including applying discounts. The feature is set to be released soon.
