  • The RT-2 model simplifies the system with significantly less training data, allowing it to not only reason complex situations but also dictate robotic actions.

  • For instance, if you ask RT-2 to toss a piece of trash, it can identify what the trash is and figure out how to throw it away without explicit training.

  • Testing RT-2 has shown promising results. It performed as well as the previous model, RT-1, on familiar tasks, but when it came to new, unfamiliar scenarios, RT-2 almost doubled its performance.

Why It Matters: RT-2's ability to apply learned information to new situations paves the way for more adaptable, versatile robots. While there's still a long way to go before we have robots helping us around the house, RT-2 has definitely brought that future a little closer.
