🤖 Google to Unveil Major AI Innovations at I/O Event

Google’s annual developer conference, I/O, is a highly anticipated event where the tech giant showcases its latest innovations and future plans. This year, a slew of major AI updates are set to be announced, according to CNBC.

Meet PaLM 2 — Google's newest and most advanced "general-use" large language model (LLM). This machine learning model is said to have passed a multitude of tests involving coding, mathematics, creative writing, and analysis.

Bard Expansion — Google's AI-powered chatbot experiment, Bard, is expected to get some significant upgrades, including the ability to understand and respond in Japanese and Korean, opening up new markets for this technology.

Workspace Tools — AI is also making its way further into Google Workspace. Users can anticipate new features like template generation in Google Sheets and image generation in Google Slides and Meet.

🖥️ Amazon Enhances Alexa with Advanced AI

As per a report from Insider, Amazon is planning to reinvent Alexa by integrating advanced AI chatbot technology, challenging the likes of OpenAI's ChatGPT and Google's Bard.

The move towards a more interactive and proactive version of Alexa is based on an internally developed large language model (LLM), named the Alexa Teacher Model. A company spokesperson shared that Amazon is building larger, "more generalized and capable" models that will make Alexa seem more like a thinking entity, rather than a database fetcher.

The new Alexa will be able to generate content, such as a bedtime story for a child, based on user prompts. For example, if a user asks for a specific TV show, Alexa will be able to figure out the name based on the details given, provide information on the cast, show relevant subscription deals, and facilitate subscription processes.

This move is a part of Amazon's strategy to reinvent Alexa in the face of the growing popularity of AI like OpenAI's ChatGPT and Google's Bard.
